Welcome to my website, where the rhythms of the past meet the beats of the future

Welcome to my website, where the rhythms of the past meet the beats of the future. My name is Hudson Gabay, and I’m a writer, researcher, and enthusiast of all electronic music—but in particular, Jamaican electronic dancehall music. My upcoming book, Jamaican Electronic Dancehall Music: The Evolution to the Revolution, takes you on a journey through the fascinating history of this vibrant genre, from its roots in the slave plantations of Jamaica to its impact on global music trends.

In the book, I explore the evolution of Jamaican music, from traditional Mento to the revolutionary sounds of Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, and eventually electronic dancehall. You will discover how this genre not only shaped the music landscape, but also influenced the development of Rap, Hip Hop, and Reggaeton.

In this website, you will find insights into my book, updates of my research, and reflections on the power of music to connect us across cultures and generations. Through my work, I hope to share the untold stories of Jamaica’s music history, the resilience of its people, and the power of art to transform and heal. Join me on this journey, and let’s explore the beat of Jamaican electronic dancehall together!
